Liner Notes
Philadelphia native, singer/songwriter Warren B. Cooper is a most welcome ‘nouveau-spirit’ creator and motivator. He has set his mind on a mission to help everyday people shirk the shadows of the black & white world to explore a Technicolor Park of Peace via musical meditation meant to restore and regenerate blessed serenity within.
What makes this project so likely to be his long overdue breakthrough is a striking balance of his high-mindedly instructive original songs paired with divinely inspired reimagined Jazz classics known in their original forms by connoisseurs of the artform around the world. What Warren has done is made timeless music even more urgent with some extra-sensory by alto saxophonist Paul Desmond.
Cooper’s vocal arrangement says ”2, 3, 4 Take 5”. “Scat That” is a swingin’ feel-good lark about a jazzy alternative means of frustration communication. “Beware the Chameleon” says “it’s time to Pay Attention” in Cooper’s mind-bending 25-year-old lyricized arrangement of Herbie Hancock’s Jazz Fusion smash “Chameleon”. “Wade in the Water” is a dual-grooved arrangement on the classic spiritual that aims to uplift all people of goodwill to step up and stand for justice in these turbulent times of troubled waters. “It’s Me (Standing in the Need of Prayer)” is an infectious quartet, then club-ready reminder it might be you that needs a change of view.
